Welcome to the Hills 9:00 Friday Group Home Page

All events are cancelled until the Club can block tee times for us, probably sometime in 2021

We are an invitation only sub-group of the SMGA that plays golf every Friday at around 9:00 AM on the Stonebridge Ranch Hills Course
For more information, contact Jerry Obenour (jobenour@hotmail.com)

Membership

  1. The 9:00 Friday Group is limited to 25 active members.  Members must be SMGA members and able to use our Golf Genius website/App.

  2. Only the Commissioner can add or remove members from the Group.

  3. Non-Members requesting membership in the Group will be referred to the Commissioner to be put on a wait list until a slot becomes available.

  4. Guests will be accommodated on a space-available basis.

Tee Times

  1. The Commissioner will designate selected individuals to acquire tee times that will be shared by all members.

  2. Members will receive an automatic email invitation every Saturday at 1:00AM.  Members must respond as "Playing" or "Not Playing", repeated occurrences of no response will result in your status being changed to "Inactive'

  3. Members desiring to play must signup (and cancel) using this website before the deadline.

  4. Members have until Noon Tuesday to change their sign up status online.  After the deadline online signups are closed, any changes must be done by email to the Commissioner.

  5. After the signup deadline, the Commissioner will assign the available slots to the respondents who have played the most events in the last six months.  In case of ties, slot(s) are awarded based on who played most recently -- like a scorecard playoff.

  6. Your “Events played” is available on the "Results" tab above..

  7. We will try to fairly compensate people who missed out because they were on the waitlist, so if that happens to you, we will give you a guaranteed spot on the next week’s list.

  8. If you cancel after signup deadline or no-show, we will move you to the end of the list for the next week (translation: you get in only if there is room.)

  9. Pairings will be posted on this website after signups have closed.  Requests to be added to the event after the signups have been closed and the scorecards printed are subject to a $3.00 commissoner fee (pays for re-printing the scorecards), no fee to cancel.

Rules

  1. All play is per 2019 USGA Rules of Golf as modified to deal with the COVID-19 Pandemic:

    1. Flagsticks:  Do not remove the flagstick.  The ball is considered holed when it is at rest and any part of the ball touches the flagstick or is below the surface of the hole.  Translation: if it hits the flagstick and bounces out, tough luck.

    2. Bunkers: If your ball is in a footprint, or other obviously damaged area of a bunker, you may lift, clean, and place your ball in the bunker on the closest spot (not nearer the hole) that represents the normal bunker condition.  Translation: you are entitled to play the bunkers from a normally maintained condition. but the relief is not intended to be used to improve your lie from normal play.  Such as a downhill lie, too close to the bunker edge, your own fried egg lie, etc.

    3. Social Distancing:  Follow social distancing rules as currently implemented by the club.  Especially maintain minimum six foot distance from everyone.

  2. No five-somes will be allowed.

  3. Use the SMGA Local Rules (Drop area on hole 24, Alternative to Stroke & Distance, Maximum Score on any hole Net Double Bogey, Relief from washed out bunkers, Gold & Green Tees).

Cancellations

  1. After noon on Tuesday sign ups will be locked, changes after that can only be made by email to the Commissioner, don't call the Proshop, don't call the Commissioner, don't send a text -- only email will do.
  2. Keep a eye on the weather forecast and decide for yourself if you will play under the forecast conditions.  Do not assume the event will be cancelled, many members have private carts and will play regardless of weather.  But some members have a long commute, are weather sensitive and won't play in cold or wet conditions.
  3. If there are fewer than six players signed up, it will not be an official event.  You are welcome to arrange your own game and use the tee times.
  4. On game day if you tee off, your money plays all 18 holes even if you quit mid-round (unless everybody quits).
  5. If you are signed up, please don't be a no show.

Excess Profits or Losses

  1. The commissioner will analyze games played and money standings.  This is visible from the portal menu: | Results | Player Event Standings |, there is video demo available under the | Home | portal tab.
  2. Any player making a net profit or loss exceeding $2.00 per game played for ten or more events in a six month period is subject to a handicap adjustment.  The player's handicap index will be adjusted by twenty percent, truncated to one decimal point.
  3. The adjustment will remain in effect until the player's profit/loss per game is less than $1.50.

Scorecards

  1. Each foursome must have someone input the scores using the Golf Genius live scoring app.

  2. One legible scorecard must be turned in to the Commissioner before money is paid out.  Use email to send a photo of the signed scorecard.

  3. The Commissioner may furnish scorecards with tee times, pin position, pairings, dotted strokes, etc. (Check in the Proshop)

  4. If scorecards are not furnished, each foursome must designate a scorekeeper to record the adjusted handicaps, dots, birds, and skins.

Gross Skins Game ($0.25 per player)

  1. Uses only Gross score.

  2. Must be a gross birdie or better.

  3. Skins will not be carried over.
